“ Beautiful place and space. Service was off in my estimation given the price you pay. Took us a while to get drinks and then we were given their lunch menus. Plus they just kept pouring new bottles of sparkling water without even asking us. And at $12 a bottle, you can only imagine the added cost. The food was the star, although we were all disappointed with the duck tortellini. The crab was a standout as was the pasta. Loved the squab and the halibut. Dessert was spot on...sticky toffee pudding!! All in all it was a most enjoyable evening but fell short in earning the five stars. ”

“ A beautiful restaurant situated in the middle of Nomad, yet stands as a unique fine dining experience. The high praise from the NY Times "best of" list is much deserved. The decor is perhaps the no.1 attraction, yet everything else is chefs kiss. With a wonderfully attentive staff looking after us, every dish was served with patience and care. My party was never rushed to make us feel like we were dining in a queue - not a given nowadays... The staff offered great suggestions and we loved everything that was ordered. The Sweet Crab and Pepper Mille Feuille packs a lot of flavor and is very refreshing. The Bay Scallops melt in your mouth, while the Beet and Caviar Tart bursts with sweetness and tanginess. While the pasta is definitely the main attraction, we optioned for the Chicken Gran Sasso for 2. The chicken was flavorful and tender with white meat being plated and served first followed by the dark meat. Both sections of the chicken were equally delicious! Cafe Carmellini left us so impressed that I am sure this will be a repeat visit and high recommendation for all dining rooms patrons for a long time to come. ”

“ We came here for a late dinner with friends after seeing a show on Broadway. I texted them to let me know that we were running late and they were super accommodating. We arrived at the restaurant around 9:45 and were taken to our table on the second floor overlooking the main dining space. It ended up being great because we had a view of the lively main dining room, but as a larger group we were able to easily hear each other. All of the food was incredible, from the bread basket to the complimentary after dinner chocolates. For dinner I ordered the artichoke almondine and the Caramelle Piedmontese pasta while my husband had the duck tortellini and truffle pasta special. Hard to say what my favorite dish was because I enjoyed them each so much. This was my favorite meal of our weekend trip to NYC. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere/vibe of this restaurant is great. Perfect for a night out with friends or a date night. I can't wait to come back and it's at the top of my list of recommendations for friends heading to New York for vacation. ”

“ Cafe Carmellini has an upscale ambiance, great service and *Breakfast* When I'm looking to treat myself to a luxurious breakfast, I'll come here. They have the best fresh squeezed orange juice and a decadent Brioche French toast, layered with hazelnut frangipane. Breakfast is quieter - I saw a few pairs of friends, and mostly hotel guests. *Dinner* Dinner is undeniably sophisticated. The ambiance is intimate and romantic, and the service is very attentive. Some of my favorites are: - Sweet Crab & Pepper Mille-Feuille - Duck-Duck-Duck Tortellini - Caramelle Piedmontese - Rabbit Cacciatore - Veal Medallions alla Osso Buco - Sticky Toffee Pudding, Aged Rum The presentation of each dish is meticulous and in some cases, theatrical. For example, the sticky toffee pudding was set on fire as it was served to us. Each meal ends with a selection of delicious chocolates and shortbread. ”

“ I came across this place on CBS Mornings IG reel. An editor from Bon Appétit magazine was raving about the crab mille-feuille dish which absolutely intrigued me. I looked them up on Yelp and checked out their website. Saw that they offered 2 & 3-course lunch. So I decided to treat myself to a nice lunch last week. To begin, the restaurant is gorgeous from the outside to the inside. You're greeted by a handsome host. I arrived early and asked to use the restroom first. He escorted me to it since it was a bit of a maze. I was seated promptly upon returning to the entrance at a nice corner table with a view of the open kitchen. The ambiance is 10/10 stunning and luxurious. I asked my server about the 2 & 3-course option and she explained it. To clarify (since they're not clear about this on the website), 2-course is choice of First OR Second + Entree. 3-course is the same plus dessert. I was interested in items from First and Second only, so I ordered a la carte. I obviously had to get the crab mille-feuille and also the duck tortellini. I wasn't in the mood to drink so I got an Arnold Palmer. My thoughts on the food: The crab mille-feuille was much smaller than expected. I guess things do look bigger on camera. It also looked nothing like it did in the IG reel. What I saw had lump crabmeat. Mine was crabmeat but definitely wasn't lump. The preparation also seemed different than what I saw and the description on the menu which said melon but there was no melon to be found anywhere. Instead it was something with pepper. At $33 for a few bites of crab, it definitely fell flat. Duck tortellini was good but very salty. The fact that the filling was ground duck, did not distinguish it from any other ground meat. Would've been better if it was perhaps shredded duck instead. Worst by far was the "Arnold Palmer" which tasted like plain water with a squeeze of lemon. Much to my dismay when I saw the check, it was $10 for the 12 oz glass. Idk how you have the audacity to charge $10 for that to begin with and make it so poorly. Best thing there might've been the complimentary bread and butter honestly. Which is pretty sad for such a gorgeous restaurant. To sum up, ambiance is 5 stars. Food is 3 stars and has a lot of room for improvement. While I appreciated that the food wasn't bland, I really expected more flavors than salt. For the love of God, how hard is it to make a proper Arnold Palmer??? Go get one from Jacob's Pickles if you need reference. Charging $10 for iced tea/lemonade is diabolical no matter what kind of restaurant you are. Service was good for the most part. My server was a bit disingenuous but other members of the waitstaff were friendly. All in all, you're coming for the ambiance. ”
